Hore! WebOS, Open Source Project

For those of you who were disappointed by the death of HP webOS devices that have not reached the ground water and wanted to know about the future of the operating system webOS, now appeared a glimmer of hope: HP has officially announced it will provide WebOS to the open source community.

This will not mean much to us at first, but fans of open-source must be very happy because they will have access to the full webOS because it means that they have the opportunity to use and modify the operating system with their own tweaks, hacks, and modifications.

With the source code WebOS is now open, this means that manufacturers of other devices will be able to use this operating system and create its own webOS devices. This has happened in the Android which is also an open source project, so bring a lot of manufacturers who produce Android devices. So we wait for the appearance of WebOS devices with different brands.

WebOS to provide the open source community may be the only way that this platform can survive, but for how long? That is the question that we can not answer today.

HP has stated that they still will "play an active role and be an investor", and the operating system will help to avoid problems such as fragmentation in the future.
