Samsung N100 New Ultra Light MeeGo Netbook Released in India

ASUS was meant to be releasing the X101 MeeGo Netbook on Monday, which silently passed with no netbook hitting the streets. It seems Samsung will be joining ASUS and Lenovo by releasing a MeeGo Netbook, the N100, which is based off their popular N150 netbook. The N100 will be featuring the new Intel Atom N435 single core processor which runs at 1.33 GHz and integrated Intel GMA3150 graphics solution.

The Samsung N100 has a matte 10.1-inch display with the usual 1024 x 600 screen resolution. Under the hood we’ve got 1 GB of DDR3 RAM and a 250 GB hard drive. There are also two USB 2.0 ports (on the N150, there were 3), a VGA port, the usual audio ports, a 4-in-1 card reader and an Ethernet port. The biggest difference from the original N150 is the use of a 3-cell battery, which may have the battery life around 4-5 hours since MeeGo uses less battery. Also, the N435 processor has yet to be put through the full paces on performance so this is just a guestimate. Still, the N100 promises to be thinner then its Windows based role model and will weigh in at a meager 1.03 kg on the scales. We hear that there will be a version featuring a 4400mAh 6-cell battery, which is what we hope you’ll grab if you’ve got the option.

The Samsung N100 was for the Indian market with an estimated retail price of 12290 rupees, which is about about €194 or $275. [Source: netbooknews.com]
